Mission Statement:
The Dubuque Girls & Boys Basketball Leagues, a division of DYSA strive to provide opportunities for personal growth and development of young athletes while also reinforcing positive influences, self-confidence, self-esteem and the ability to excel on and off the court. Through participation, DGBL & DBBL are dedicated to educate and motivate each member while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship and fun through the game of basketball.

Divisions:

Every child that registers prior to the deadline will be guaranteed a team.
We allow Teams and individual players to register.


High School Feeder Teams
  • 7th & 8th Grade
  • School teams from Dubuque and the surrounding area 
  • Area Teams will register as a team
  • No All-Star teams allowed 
  • Dubuque Teams will all be reguired to attend a 'Program Placement Day' and have their kids assessed by the HS Coaching Staff and placed on teams. 
  • DYSA will organize the 'Program Placement Day" but not assist in the placement of kids or the building of teams within each schools feeder system 
  • Advanced School Teams wanting to travel will have a shortened season 
    • 4 - 5 weeks - double headers
  • Developmental Teams not traveling will have a lenthened season (Only if there is enough interest to do so)
    • 9 -10 weeks of League
  • Teams bring & wear your own School Jerseys
  • Certified Referees 
  • The DYSA Program is staffed by parent volunteers. Parents are expected to assist in some aspect of the organization.

5th 6th Grade

  • In the 5th & 6th Grade Advanced and Beginner Division we are still in a developmental stage of basketball.
  • We will continue emphasising learning the game as well as the fundamentals needed to eventually play at the next level.  
  • 9-10 weeks of League
  • Teams can consist of players attending the same High School or mixed
  • T-Shirt Jerseys will be provided
  • Certified Referees 
  • The DYSA Program is staffed by parent volunteers. Parents are expected to assist in some aspect of the organization.

2nd, 3rd & 4th Grade

  • In the 3rd & 4th Grade Advanced and Beginner Division we are still in a very developmental stage of basketball.
  • We will continue emphasising learning the game as well as the fundamentals needed to eventually play at the next level.  
  • 9-10 weeks of League
  • Teams can consist of players attending the same High School or mixed
  • T-Shirt Jerseys will be provided
  • In the 2nd & 3rd Grade Beginner Division we will put much more emphasis on learning the game as well as the fundamentals needed to eventually play at the next level. Each Saturday will consist of alternating practice time and game time for a combined total of approximately 9-10 weeks of league. Sportsmanship, Team work & Learning to love the game of basketball will also be our focus.  
  • Score will not be kept at the beginner levels 
  • The DYSA Program is staffed by parent volunteers. Parents are expected to assist in some aspect of the organization.  

 

Intensity Travel Basketball 
(Must be a Y member)

  • The Dubuque Community Intensity Girls Basketball program is for girls 3rd -8th grade. The program format is competitive. Teams are divided, based on skill level, into a competitive and developmental team for each grade level.

  • Competitive teams seek to schedule the toughest possible competition.

  • Developmental teams focus on improving fundamentals.

  • Developmental teams compete in the local community Leagues. Traveling teams will travel to 6-15 tournaments (depending on grade level) in and around the Tri-state area. League / Developmental teams will play a minimum of 2 tournaments.

  • Intensity players Must be a Y Member (all players are asked to get a Y membership for use of gym, facility, and other Y resources)

  • The DCY Intensity Program is staffed by parent volunteers. Parents are expected to assist in some aspect of the organization.
